Brahmaputra Volleyball League in Assam, India
In the heart of Assam, India, I embarked on a captivating journey with Let’s Keep The Ball Flying (LKTB), a dynamic Dutch NGO with a profound vision. This wasn’t just a documentation project; it was a shared commitment to using the power of volleyball to create positive change in communities around the world.
Let’s Keep The Ball Flying’s Vision: LKTB’s vision aligns seamlessly with my belief in the transformative potential of sports. Their mission transcends the court; it’s about building thriving volleyball communities globally, inspiring a new generation of players and fans united by the goal of making the world a better place. LKTB envisions a world where volleyball is more than a game—it’s a conduit for connection, teamwork, and individual empowerment.
BVL: Where Dreams Take Flight: Joined by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the former captain of the Indian Volleyball team, we delved into the heart of the Brahmaputra Volleyball League (BVL). Abhijeet’s brainchild, BVL, isn’t just a league; it’s a movement to make volleyball accessible to every child in the villages of Assam. From a modest start in Season 1 to 209 teams in Season 2, the league symbolizes the dreams kindled in the hearts of these young players.
Through My Lens: Documenting Dreams Unfold As a documentary photographer, my lens didn’t merely capture the game; it painted a narrative of dreams taking root in the hearts of these children. The Let’s Keep The Ball Flying team, fueled by a commitment to empowerment through sports, documented a story that transcends the boundaries of a volleyball court.
This journey isn’t just about the game; it’s about the impact—of volleyball as a bridge connecting communities, inspiring teamwork, and empowering every child to dream big. As I documented the echoes of bouncing volleyballs and the cheers of crowds, I wasn’t just a witness; I was a storyteller contributing to a vision where every child, regardless of circumstance, can let the ball fly and dream of a brighter tomorrow.
