Hi, I’m milene

A Photographer from
the netherlands

Hi, I’m Milene van Arendonk — a Dutch documentary and humanitarian photographer based in The Hague, The Netherlands. I specialize in social issues photography, cultural storytelling, and travel photojournalism with a strong focus on real human connection.

As a documentary photographer, I work on stories that matter. My lens is focused on humanitarian issues, inequality, and underrepresented voices — stories that often go untold. Whether I’m working in remote villages or urban neighborhoods, I aim to create photography that feels honest, intimate, and deeply respectful.

My passion for anthropological photography and visual storytelling has taken me around the world. I’ve lived in different places, connected with people across borders, and learned that the world is my classroom. I believe empathy is the foundation of good photography — and it’s what allows me to build trust and share people’s stories in their truest form.

I don’t tell my story — I tell theirs.
I’m simply the mirror that reflects their truth. My work is not about me. It’s about them. And it’s this purpose that drives everything I do.

What I bring:

  • Years of experience in field photography and on-location visual storytelling

  • A respectful, honest, and people-first approach to photojournalism

  • The ability to connect and build trust in any cultural context

  • A personal mission to use my photography for social change

Let’s work together

Whether you’re looking for a photographer for NGO campaigns, cultural stories, or humanitarian fieldwork, or you just want to follow my visual journey — I’d love to hear from you.
